What if I told you that all pain, suffering and evil in the world could be traced back to one common cause? And this cause was a race of creatures so devious, so treacherous, and so thoroughly corrupted that the mere mention of them makes one wince in repugnance. This race has one and only one goal, the acquisition of material wealth. Any contracts formed with those not of “the race” are allowed to be broken without ramifications. In fact, it is considered a great character asset and a sign of strength to purposely cheat, lie, and steal the wealth of others. This race has a secret code of laws that have been handed down generation after generation. All that matters in life is the building of personal fortune. If common, civil laws need to be broken to accomplish this, then so be it! If Machiavellian scheming behind the scenes of government, industry, or finance are needed, then so be it! If literally millions of others are left destitute for the remainder of their lives, then so be it! All that matters for those of “the race” is profit. Cold, hard, tangible profit drives this entire race of hobgoblins.
To fulfil this lust for materialism, all avenues of exploitation are encouraged. Blackmail, smuggling, bribery, usury, slander, deception, exploitation of workers, theft, forgery, propaganda, slavery, and collusion with known enemies are just a few of the tools at their disposal. There is literally no bottom to the barrel they scrape. One often finds those of “the race” in any and all seedy business ventures. They are disproportionately found owning and managing strip clubs, brothels, illegal casinos, money-laundering fronts, ponsi schemes, “charitable” organizations that constantly suffer embezzlement, porn shops, porn studios, usurious financial institutions, fraudulent arts & antiquities shops, and any other bottom-feeding, scum-sucking form of business.
Physically, those of “the race” are very easy to spot, at least once your eye is trained. There is no blending into the populace for them. They have chosen to self-segregate. Assimilation is something that others do, not those of “the race.” These generations and generations of non-assimilation have left them with telltale characteristics. Perhaps the most prominent features of “the race” are their unusually large ears and noses. If anyone has a nose for money you can bet they do. Often, especially later in life, they develop deep wrinkles on their foreheads. Cranial hair is rare and most all are bald. Usually, they are not terribly tall in stature, though there are exceptions.
They often try to make up for their rather homely physical appearance with a brash, egotistical manner and an unchecked superiority complex. They order around anyone who deals with them like personal servants. Abrasive and downright vulgar behavior seems to be genetically fused into them. For those not of “the race” this is perhaps the most ugly aspect of the Root Race of Evil.
With their vast sums of wealth they will buy the latest exclusive fashions, don flamboyant jewelry, purchase expensive works of art, and own lavish palaces. They seem to be fascinated by shiny objects, much like chimps in a zoo. They preferentially work in areas of society dealing with shiny objects, such as traders of rare gems and precious metals. Yet, all their money and flash still doesn’t buy them what they crave ... Class. All the expensive toys, clothes, and jewels simply cannot convert their unclassy nature into a gentleman’s existence. They have significant political and judicial pull. Their deep bank accounts make unscrupulous allies in all the right places. For those of you unfamiliar with the Gnostics, they were one of the early Christian sects. In the beginning of Christianity, there were literally dozens of competing Christian philosophies.
One of the main sects of early Christendom were the Gnostics. The Valentinians of Alexandria were perhaps the most well known. Gnosticism evolved from earlier Pagan beliefs. Those who would have been considered Jewish “heretics” found refuge in Alexandria, Egypt. There, they adapted the well-established Greek Pagan philosophies of Pythagoras & Plato for their Jewish followers. The result was Gnosticism.
Systematically, scientifically, & ruthlessly the Catholic Church destroyed the Gnostics. Rome, under Emperor Constantine, decided to use Christianity for socio-political purposes. The emperor wanted Rome to have a single, unifying religion. The Catholic version of Christianity is what he chose. The Catholics were rigid in their “literal” interpretation of Christianity. The Gnostics, on the other hand, were “mythical & metaphorical” in their interpretation of the Biblical Christ story. Rigid orthodoxy is what the emperor wanted, i.e. the Catholic version.

Example: Moses wandered in the desert for 40 years.
Literal Catholic Christianity: Moses was a real person who stumbled around the desert with his followers for 40 years.
Mythical Gnostic Christianity: One must stumble “in-the-dark” until the age of 40 before spiritual knowledge is granted.
Example: Eve fed Adam an apple which resulted in man losing immortality & falling from grace.
Literal Catholic Christianity: Eve was a real woman who fed a real fruit called an apple to a real man called Adam. God was pissed & humans have suffered as a result.
Mythical Gnostic Christianity: Sophia (Mother Nature or Virgin Mary or Holy Wisdom are other names for Sophia) realized an error in creation (the flawed physical world of the Demiurge, who was her own flawed, accidental creation). To rescue the true “sparks of light” caught in the Demiurge’s reality, she comes to humans & offers the knowledge of enlightenment (symbolized metaphorically as an apple). This is a forbidden fruit because the Demiurge does not wish humans to escape his realm of control via enlightenment. The apple tree in the Garden of Eden is actually the Tree of Knowledge which the Demiurge (Old Testament God) forbids humans to have.

Even though Gnosticism predated Catholicism, it was the latter which prevailed. Undoubtedly, having the backing of the emperor of the Roman Empire had something to do with Catholicism’s victory.
Still, remnants of the Gnostics survived in secret. The Inquisition during the Middle Ages erased the last of the true Gnostics. The Cathars of southern France were Gnostics. They believed this world & everything in it were created by the Old-Testament God, the god of Jehovah if you will. But the Gnostics considered this “god” to be a lesser-god or even a flaw of creation. In Gnostic philosophy, human spirits are trapped in this physical reality by a Demiurge.
The Demiurge is the god of the Old Testament. The Demiurge is considered either woefully ignorant of his true origin & status as a flawed creation of a higher entity (thereby explaining why evil exists), or he is fully aware of a higher (True Good God as the Gnostics called it) spiritual entity but chooses to keep humanity ignorant & under his control.
In either creation myth, the Gnostics believed the Old Testament God to actually be a flawed imposter, a Demiurge. And this flawed Demiurge (the product of the Mother Sophia myth - Mother Nature if you will) keeps human spirits bound to this reality for endless reincarnations to satisfy his own evil ego.
The Gnostics such as the Cathars believed that it was possible to break the reincarnation cycle. That is what the Christ myth was supposed to teach the “True Christians.” The Gnostic, mythical interpretation of the story of Christ is actually teaching the method for breaking the reincarnation cycle of the Demiurge, thereby releasing the human spirits to be reunited with the True Good God (or wholeness or fullness or various other names for an ultimate, supreme power). Buddhists would refer to this as reaching enlightenment. Hindus would describe this as reaching Nirvana.
For Catholics, of course, this was beyond heresy. Anything outside of literal, orthodox interpretation of the Bible was blasphemy. Equating the Old Testament God with an inferior Demiurge & the New Testament to an entirely different god was beyond blasphemy. Through violence, murder, & genocide the Catholics exterminated the Gnostic Cathars.
